The Campus-Community Partnership Foundation - W.K. Kellogg Scholarship, Presented by Stetson University

The best examples of student-led service learning projects are eligible for $500 scholarship awards from the Campus-Community Partnership Foundation, presented by Stetson University and sponsored by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. To apply, follow these instructions exactly.

The Carter-Kellogg Scholarship, presented by Stetson University, offers recognition to students who have completed or implemented noteworthy service-learning projects. All submitted projects are published online at servicebook.org, to serve as a resource for other students, faculty, and community partners. From among eligible projects submitted on ServiceBook, a panel of faculty and staff at Stetson University select a project each month to receive a $500 scholarship to acknowledge the student’s successful contribution to the community. Review the eligibility requirements and selection criteria below, then submit your project to enter the competition.  Upcoming deadlines are March 20, April 24, and May 22, 2009. If you’re not successful initially, your project may be held over for subsequent competitions. Be sure to have your current email included so you can be notified of the results.

ELIGIBILITY:
  1. Full-time college graduate or undergraduate students who have completed or implemented service-learning projects during their college attendance are eligible to apply.
  2. A partnership must exist between the student, his or her academic institution, and a community organization partner.
  3. A connection must be established between the student’s academic program and the service component of the project with oversight of the project by a faculty member or other that loosely oversaw the project.
SELECTION CRITERIA:
Having met the eligibility requirements, the winning application will be selected based on the following criteria:
  1. How you identified community needs that led to the project
  2. Your academic preparation before the implementation of the project
  3. An overall summary of the project
  4. What activities were included in the project
    • How you enlisted other students to help
    • How you worked with a community organization, not just in the community, and leveraged the organization’s strengths
  5. The impact of the project on the community
    • How you used data about the project to plan, make decisions and measure the outcomes of the project
  6. An overall summary of what you learned from the project – about your academic subject and about serving – and how you will use that knowledge in the future.
APPLICATION PROCESS:
Your application will become part of a database of projects and proposals to encourage and inspire other students to create their own service learning experiences. To avoid having your application lost in the database, it is imperative that you follow these instructions explicitly.

1. Register on ServiceBook – only registered users can see the application.

2. Find and follow the link “Apply Carter-Kellogg” at the top of the page.
