Public Service Education Programs UCSD's Education Studies (EDS) offers several opportunities for students to be involved in preK-12 education on a hands-on basis. The CREATE approach enables the university to bring its most vital resources - faculty and students - to support local schools and school districts. Faculty help to introduce the latest innovations in learning and test their effectiveness. UCSD students act as tutors, mentors, and role models for K-12 students, providing a constant reminder that ethnic or economic circumstances are not an obstacle to receiving the best possible education. |

made to address this problem, an easy solution has proven elusive. What has
become clear, however, is that we as a society cannot expect to boost the
numbers of underrepresented youths in our colleges without focused efforts to
prepare these students academically in their pre-college years.
